Badshahi Mosque A Jewel of Mughal Architecture in Lahore
The Badshahi Mosque situated in Lahore, Pakistan and hailed as an example of the magnanimity and glory of Mughal architecture. The expansive & main prayer hall has the capacity of accommodating more than 55,000 devotees at one time. The hall consists of seven bays separated by massive arches slanting in strongly from above and supported on graceful pillars covering complicated carvings of foliage and Qur'anic verses.
A unique characteristic of the mosque is the central dome, which reaches a height of 177 feet (54 meters) and is surrounded by four pillars in the form of minarets, matching each other's height at 176 feet (53.75 meters) tall. Geometric, floral and calligraphic designs using marble and sandstone adorn every dome and the minarets demonstrating the skills of the artisans of the Mughal era.
